Press Freedom Index India | RSF- Reporters without borders have released the world press freedom index ranking for 2018. Press Freedom Index India went two step down on the ranking from last years index, where it was dropped down from 136 to 138. While Asian countries like Myanmar, Philippines, UAE, Qatar grabbed improved position than India, Pakistan stays just behind on 139. North Korea is indexed last of 180 country list.

Index points of India has worsened from 42.94 in 2017 to 43.24 in 2018. Index is prepared based in important factors such as Pluralism,Media independence, Environment and self-censorship, Legislative framework , Transparency, Infrastructure and Abuses .

Significance of RSF ?
RSF or reporter without borders rank 180 countries according to the level of freedom available to journalists . It has been doing this on yearly basis from 2002. This report is having significant role in showing out how controlled is the media in the country and leading countries are taking steps to improve this situation.
