Shortest Period Chief Minister India | BS Yedyurappa shoulders Jagdambika Pal as the Chief Minister who served for least period in the history of Independent India. After winning 104 out of 224 member legislative assembly in the State of Karnataka, BJP (Bharathiya Janatha Party) was invited by governor to form the government. This lead to massive protest through out India, as Congress JDS (Janatha Dal Secular) coalition with 116 MLA was not called to form Government. Even though governor gave 15 days for BS Yedyurappa to prove the majority, Hon Supreme court of India intervened to do it in 48 hours, smelling overall foul play in the way BSY was invited to form Govt. Congress and JDS came up with many proof including BJP persons offering of 100 Crores , leading to MLA purchase. BSY short term govt formed on 17 May 2018 came to an end on 19 May as BSY resigned ahead of Floor Test. That is within 55 hours of taking charge
Meanwhile, Mr. Jagdambika Pal was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for 3 days from 21st February 1998 to 23rd February 1998. Kalyan Singh’s government had been dismissed by the then governor of Uttar Pradesh, Romesh Bhandari when Congress MP, Naresh Agrawal withdrew his support to Kalyan Singh without any floor test. The government could only sustain for three days, as the Allahabad Court ordered for reinstating the government of Kalyan Singh and organizing a floor test. Kalyan Singh successfully proved his majority in the house and continued to be the chief minister.
